A look down Palm Canyon Drive after renovation
The project is one of the primary elements of the revitalization of downtown Palm Springs and includes many decorative streetscaping elements that are consistent with the City's desert resort heritage. For instance, the design included specialized planter boxes, benches, light standards, traffic signals, and trash receptacles, along with a number of small park settings. The project consisted of the construction of approximately 50,000 L.F. of pavement (both asphalt concrete and decorative pavers) and 280,000 S.F. of slurry seal, along with 10,000± L.F. of 16" and 12" diameter water pipeline. The project also included the replacement of existing concrete curbs and gutters, and the installation of flood control facilities (e.g. catch basins and connector pipes).
